Great Customer Service

We pride ourselves on offering amazing customer service, and all our customers say the same, with consistent positive feedback about our friendly, caring team.  At Happy Tails, we know every dog and their owner by name, offering a truly personal experience built on trust, reassurance and joy.

We provide a safe, secure and loving environment where dogs can spend their day playing and socialising whilst being cared for by our dedicated team.  For convenience, we offer both self-drop off and a van pick-up and drop-off service.

We go the extra mile for anxious or new owners, offering comfort calls, photos, and videos so they can see their pup having fun and feeling settled.  With almost 12,000 social media followers, we've built a loyal community who love the services we provide.

Word of mouth has always been our strongest marketing tool.  Dog owners love to chat, and when our customers share their pup's Happy Tails experience with friends, family, or even fellow walkers, it's the most authentic promotion we could ask for.  We're proud that our reputation extends beyond our local community with groomers, vets, pet shops and even other family-run day cares recommending us.  This network of trust and referrals continues to grow our Happy Tails family.

Trained & Happy Team

At Happy Tails, we believe happy team = happy dogs.  Our experienced, close-knit team enjoys exceptional retention and genuinely sees one another as best friends, creating a safe and joyful workplace that shines through in the care we provide.

We're committed to supporting professional development, fully funding training with the British College of Canine Studies so team members can achieve Level 4 Diplomas in canine behaviour.

Recruitment is rare, but when we do expand, we look for people with genuine dog or animal experience to join the team.

We also provide the team with ongoing professional development, including cross training in different roles, canine & human first aid, and annual in-house training on behaviour, enrichment, welfare and safety policies, all reinforced through appraisals to celebrate success, award promotions and focus on personal growth.

We Care for Our Environment

Through our Green Paws, Green Planet initiative, we're committed to caring for both dogs and the planet.  To offset our carbon footprint, we've planted over 850 trees and bushes onsite, providing natural shade for dogs, supporting local wildlife, and improving drainage to reduce flooding.

We only use solar power for lighting and operate between 8am - 3.30pm year round, eliminating the need for additional heating or lighting.  Our dog waste is collected by a third party and converted into biofuel, and we buy locally wherever possible to reduce transport emissions and support nearby businesses, ensuring Happy Tails is as sustainable as we can be.

Supporting Our Community

At Happy Tails, we don't just care for our dogs, we care for our community too.  Here's just some of the stuff we do!

In 2024, we partnered with a local dog charity and travelled to Serbia to support their rescue centre as well as supporting via donations and a fundraising event.  Each Christmas, we get overwhelmed with gifts from our owners, so now we ask our customers, instead of buying gifts for the team, we encourage them to donate to those in need.

The response has been incredible: in 2023 we collected enough donations to support three local dog charities.  In 2024, we supported Sevenoaks Larder, with our community rallying to provide 672kg of food for local families.  This year, we've supported and donated £1200 to a local mental health charity and we plan to support Sevenoaks Larder again this Christmas.

Frequently Asked Questions...

Are dog day cares essential?

Yes, We believe dog day care is essential to many dogs to combat separation anxiety and for companionship, whilst their owners are busy out of the home. Our dog day care is like an all in one, dog walker and dog sitter with a door to door service, so is a perfect solution for your dog!

Are dog day cares safe?

Yes. A well run dog day care centre will screen new dogs joining checking for aggression, stress and anxiety. They will also separate dogs into smaller groups and have constant human supervisors in place to ensure they monitor behaviour at all times in those groups.

Is dog day care good for dogs?

Yes. It's got to be better for all dogs to be with other dogs and humans, playing, running and exercising during the day rather than being left alone at home.

Is puppy day care good for puppies?

Yes. Puppies get to socialise with other puppies and older dogs. This allows puppies to play and build confidence and bond with other dogs. It helps teach puppies how to behave by understanding what behaviour is right and wrong.

What age can a puppy start at day care?

Puppies can join our doggy day care after they have received their last round of vaccinations including kennel cough. Puppies normally join day care between the age of 12-14 weeks old.

When can puppy training start and do puppy training classes work?

The sooner a puppy starts training and learning what's right and wrong the better. Puppy training can start at home and move onto puppy classes which also helps owners as much as it does the puppies, to ensure the puppy grows up to be a well behaved and loving dog.

Are you insured?

Yes. Happy Tails is insured with Pet Business Insurance, a specialist animal trade insurer. Our insurance covers public liability, day care, custody control and transportation of your dog.

Can I meet the team and see the facilities before sending my dog?

Yes. We would expect you to do this, in fact we recommend it. You’re welcome to drop by and meet the team, you can ask questions and see where your dog will spend their day. You can witness first hand who they’re with, see what they’re doing and most importantly, you can see how much our dogs enjoy themselves. We’re confident you will be impressed!

What happens if my dog doesn’t get on with another dog?

It’s really important your dog gets on well with other dogs. Before accepting your dog into our community, a member of the Happy Tails team will meet you and your dog and assess their suitability. We only accept social dogs with no history of aggression, this ensures all of our dogs are happy mixing together. Once they’ve settled, the dogs usually form their own social groups and tend to stay with dogs who enjoy similar activities.

Do you only accept well-trained dogs?

No. It helps but it’s not an essential. At Happy Tails we don’t provide specific training but if you speak to other dog owners they will tell you they have noticed marked improvement in their dog’s behaviour after attending our day care centre.

What happens in an emergency?

All our colleagues are dog first aid trained. It is very rare for us to have any type of emergency but just in case we hold a telephone list of all of our owners. In the event of an emergency we will call you immediately to discuss the situation. If we can’t get hold of you and urgent medical attention is required we will take your dog to our vets in Sevenoaks.

When do you collect my Dog for Day Care?

No two days are the same with different owners booking as well as local traffic conditions, so we don’t give specific pick up or drop off times. However, we endeavour to collect all our dogs by 09:30.

How long is a Doggy Day Care Day?

A full day at day care is a minimum of 5 hours from when they arrive on site and if you add on travel time between home and our centre, it means your dog is probably with us for around 6-7 hours. We have found this is more than enough time for dogs to get all the exercise and socialisation they need.

What is a doggy day care centre?

A doggy day care centre is very much like a child's nursery but where dogs can meet up with friends and spend their day playing and exercising in a safe, supervised and secure environment.

Do we accept puppies and when?

Yes. We love puppies joining us and enjoy watching them grow into confident social dogs. Puppies can join Happy Tails doggy day care as soon as their vaccinations (including kennel cough) are in place. Puppies normally join us between 12-14 weeks old and our doggy day care centre offers the perfect environment for your puppy to grow and socialise.

Doggy day care for small dogs?

Are you looking for day care for your small dog? No problem as we have puppies and small dogs with us all the time and look after the smallest of our dogs with the utmost care and supervision.

A day at Happy Tails involves a lot of fun and play, along with lovely dog walks around our site! Your dog will truly have a brilliant day, head over to our Facebook page or Instagram to see photos and videos of what the gang get up to!

Do I need to be home when you collect or drop off my dog?

No. In actual fact all our owners are busy or at work when we pick up and drop off dogs. We hold house keys for all our dogs homes and any of our Happy Tails colleagues who have access to our owner's homes are CRB checked and vetted thoroughly by us.

Will my dog be supervised at all times?

Yes. From the minute we pick your dog up in the morning until we return him or her in the afternoon your dog will be under constant supervision by the team.

What happens when it rains or is too cold for my dog to be outside?

We have a heated cabins where your dog can go to escape the weather or even to just have a rest if they feel tired. We provide every dog with a nice comfy bed. We find it's only us humans who moan about the weather! Dogs with their hairy coats do not worry about the weather like we do but we still ask in winter that you send your dog with a rain coat.

Do I need to book in the same days each week?

No, we are super flexible and you can book what ever you want through our booking system. This allows us to ensure we provide the correct level of supervisors to dogs.

My dog doesn’t like crates or confined spaces, will they be stressed travelling to and from the centre?

No. We plan our pick ups and drop offs very carefully to reduce travel times for all our dogs. Our drivers are trained to carefully assess every dog in their care and to make sure that every dog is comfortable with the journey. Our crates vary in size and vet approved, and this ensures your dog has plenty of space. We very rarely find the dogs have issues with the travel or crates – they associate the travel with running around with their friends and that’s normally a positive.

Can my dog stay at the Day Care Centre overnight?

No. Dogs cannot stay at the day care centre overnight. In cases of an emergency, if something unforeseen happened whilst we have your dog, one of our colleagues will take care of your dog in their home overnight. We can offer a pet sitting service via our colleagues, subject to availability.

Do you offer day care on the weekends and bank holidays?

No. Happy Tails only operate from Monday-Friday and we are closed on bank holidays and at Christmas, to allow our staff time to spend with their families.

Doggy daycare with pools?

During hot weather we always have our little pools out for your dogs to cool down and enjoy playing in!
